Initial Consultation
For adult clients, at the initial appointment, your Making Milestones clinician will aim to find out about you and your needs to determine how we can work together to give you the right support. This will involve talking to you about your needs and goals, strengths and challenges. You will discuss your journey so far and what has and hasn’t worked for you. You will have an opportunity to ask questions and discuss any concerns or queries you have.
Your clinician may use a standardised, non-standardised, or combination of assessments to learn more about your skills. This may take more than one session and timeframes will be discussed with you during the first appointment. Your clinician will then plan with you the best approach to ongoing therapy, if needed.
For children, at the initial appointment, your Making Milestones clinician will aim to find out about you and your child to determine how we can work together to give you the right support for your family. This may take more than one session and timing will be discussed with you during the first appointment. Your clinician will then plan with you the best approach to ongoing therapy, if needed.

Written Reports and Progress Reports
The Making Milestones therapist can write a report that provides the results of assessments and other observations made during the assessment if you require this. This may also include recommendations for support to address you or your child’s individual needs.
Reports can be a useful way to share information with others involved in your care, track progress over time and provide information to support applications for funding or support where appropriate. Your clinician will discuss with you the type of report which would best meet your needs.
Progress Reports are usually written once a year to track development and progress towards your therapy goals.

Parents of children with a chronic condition, complex care needs or Autism are able to access Medicare rebates for a specific amount of sessions per calendar year to an Allied Health Provider.
